WS: Introduction to Boudoir Photography

This workshop was produced with my DFW Photography group on Facebook.  If you are a member of Facebook please click on the link and view the details there.

Today @ 11am-3pm I hosted and taught a “Introduction to Boudoir Photography” class.  This class had Ashley as the model and Bill, Brian, Daniel, Lloyd & Scottie as the student photographers.

The class started at roughly the expected time.  We had a brief introduction of one another and then started a discussion about Boudoir Photography.  During this time I discussed aspects of how to interact with your clients, setting expectations and a little bit of studio setup.  We then discussed models and discovery of people to work with.

After this discussion we then all pitched in on setting up the studio.  I had each person participate in setting up the studio for use.  Upon completion I had Ashley join us and begin shooting.  I offered some hands on interaction with the photographers and model as well as sat back and allowed each person to create what they wanted.  The workshop enabled each photographer to be an assistant in the shoot as well as the photographer.  This enables each person to gain the vantage point of helping as well as creating.

Upon completion of the shoot everyone felt comfortable with their work and really enjoyed working together.

Lastly I am asking the attendees as well as the model to provide any type of feedback.  I welcome them as comments here on the blog or to my email address.  Either way I look forward to hearing your input!

Thanks,

C.

Upgraded WP…

This morning I upgraded my WordPress, The format my page here is designed and created in.

I click on the “Upgrade” link and it would not do much at all.  Just say “downloading”.  I review the help info over at http://www.wordpress.org and find that maybe I need to deactivate my plugins.  I deactivate the plugins and I get the message “unpacking core” and nothing else.  Now I am really scratching my head because it makes no sense.  I see someone post that I needed to edit my .htaccess file which I did.  The info had a “space” in the line that I needed to add.  I removed the space and saved the file but it still did the same thing.  After reading on some more I left it alone.  I came on to my computer this morning and tinkered with it again.  This time I deactivated my plugins again and left the “space” in the line that it was speaking about and it worked.  I found a list that was compiled that stated “Upgrade confirmed to work but with caveats”.  I do not think it is much of a caveat to add in 1 line of text.

So my page is up to 2.7.1 and no more prompts for upgrade 🙂

Now on to my workshop today that I am hosting.  Should be fun indeed!  I am ready hope that everyone else is ready as well!

Officially Launched…

WestOUT Photography

WestOUT Photography

On February 16, 2009 @ 4pm roughly I successfully wrote up my “About” page and launched my revamped website here.

So far I have received pretty good words from my friends and people that offer input on my website.  I did receive some feedback to improve and I really think that once I implement these changes that the site will be much better because of them.  What was suggested to me was th change the “White” background to a soft gray tone.  I like that idea very much as the white is very stark in contrast to the black.  Another suggestion provided was to create a “Work Safe / Family Safe” portion to my page.  This would help those that want to view my work while at work or around their family from dropping into content that can be considered a bad by others.  Look for these changes in the coming weeks as I poke around the CSS and the settings to make a page “Private” in which you know it is non-work/family safe.

I am thinking of doing another page like this as well for my Portrait Website as well.  Keep posted for the changes to that later this year…

Thanks for your time,

C.

Still plugging along…

Just Me

Just Me

I am working on getting use to this interface and setting things up how I want them to be.  So far some of what I want is present.  But I have room for improvement.

I need to get the “Top” pages to be how I want which I can plug in ideas to them on the fly instead of just a generic blog.  Also I am going to clean up the right side “Widgets” in the future as well.

Thanks for sharing my growing pains with me..

Please look around and get yourself involved.  There are plenty of things that will be going on from today, February 6, 2009, and going forward.

Do you have your “Beautiful Moment” captured in time?
